Holding the WWE title represents the pinnacle of a superstar’s success, hard work, and dedication. While most title reigns end in new challengers pinning the reigning Champion, sometimes unforeseen circumstances force stars to relinquish the title.

Injuries are a part of pro wrestling and have halted many amazing title runs. However, today we will take a look at a different reason for stars to relinquish the title: pregnancy. Despite working hard to reach the mountain top, these superstars stepped away from the spotlight to take care of their family and welcome the newest member.

While multiple Women in the WWE have taken time off due to pregnancy, there are only two who had to make the tough call to step away while being at the top of the division and relinquish the title.

2. Becky Lynch

Rebecca Quin, better known among fans as Becky Lynch, is the first superstar in the promotion to vacate the title due to pregnancy. Lynch is married to fellow WWE superstar Colby Lopez, better known as ‘The Visionary’ Seth Rollins.

Lynch vacated the Raw Women’s Championship during the May 11, 2020, episode of Monday Night Raw. Their daughter, ‘Roux’, was born in December 2020. Lynch made her return after a 15-month hiatus at SummerSlam 2021.

1. Naomi

The current Women’s World Champion, Trinity LaShawn Fatu, better known by her ring name, Naomi, is the latest addition to the list as she announced her pregnancy on the August 18 episode of Monday Night Raw. Naomi’s match with Iyo Sky last week was cancelled as she was not cleared to compete, which sparked a lot of speculation and rumors about her pregnancy or injury.

The Champion made her appearance, announcing the pregnancy, stayed true to her heel persona, and delivered an amazing promo. She relinquished the Women’s World title at the end of the promo and warned the entire division to “PROCEED WITH CAUTION!”.

Naomi is married to fellow WWE superstar, Jonathan Fatu, better known by his ring name Jimmy Uso. The two stars are now expecting their first child. Trinity has openly discussed the difficulties she’s had on her journey to have a baby, and the entire pro wrestling fandom has showered her with love on the good news.
