WWE SummerSlam is the biggest annual pro-wrestling event of summer!
SummerSlam is one of the biggest annual pro-wrestling events hosted by WWE since 1988. This is the second biggest event of WWE and is one of the five biggest events of the year including WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series and Money in the Bank.
WWE has held a total of 36 SummerSlam events and this year marks the 37th event. As we are in the season of the biggest event of summer, here we take a look at the top ten interesting facts about WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.
10. John Cena has the most losses at Summerslam PPV
John Cena has the most number of losses at the SummerSlam pay-per-view. Cena participated in a total of fifteen matches at the pay-per-view in which he lost ten. This is one of the uncertain pay-per-views for Cena in his wrestling career.
9. It was here the origin of the TLC match
SummerSlam 2000 hosted the first ever Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match featuring Edge & Christian, The Dudley Boyz & The Hardy Boyz for the WWF Tag Team Championship. With this TLC became one of the extremely popular matches in the wrestling industry.
8. Youngest World Champions
The event has witnessed a total of two youngest world champions in the history of the company. In 2002, Brock Lesnar became the youngest WWE Undisputed Champion at the age of 25. In 2004, Randy Orton became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion at the age of 24.
7. First International PPV
WWE has been hosting international pay-per-views in recent times and has been gaining huge success all over the world. However the 1992 SummerSlam is WWE’s first ever pay-per-view to be hosted outside North America. The 1992 SummerSlam was held in Wembley Stadium in London, England.
6. Two Home-towns for the event
From 2009 to 2018, the SummerSlam event was conducted only in two cities, making it the SummerSlam hometown in the past. From 2009 to 2014, the pay-per-view became a primary summer event in Los Angeles, California and then moved to Brooklyn, New York and the event made it the primary destination from 2015 to 2018.

Randy Orton has won a total of three world title wins at SummerSlam, including the World Heavyweight Championship in 2004, the WWE Championship in 2011 & WWE Championship in 2013 (MITB cash-in).
4. Money in the Bank cash-in
A total of three Money in the Bank cash-ins were featured at the pay-per-view including Alberto Del Rio (2011), Randy Orton (2013) & IYO SKY (2023). In which all three were successful in their attempts.
3. Most main events
Brock Lesnar has maintained the most number of SummerSlam pay-per-views in history. Lesnar was a part of 9 main events at the pay-per-view and has main evented consecutively for six years from 2014 to 2019. This is the most by any wrestler in the history of the company.
2. Most wins
“The Rated R Superstar” Edge has the most number of wins at the SummerSlam pay-per-view. Edge wrestled a total of 14 matches at Summerslam, where he won 12 and lost 2. Edge has a winning percentage of 85% at the pay-per-view.
1. Undefeated streak
Hulk Hogan holds an undefeated streak at the SummerSlam event with a 6-0 record. In 1988 he was a part of Mega Powers with Randy Savage & defeated the Mega Bucks (Ted DiBiase & Andre The Giant). In 1989, he teamed up with Brutus Beefcake and defeated Randy Savage & Zeus. In 1990, he defeated the Earthquake. In 1991, Hogan teamed up with The Ultimate Warrior & defeated Sgt. Slaughter, Gen.Adnan & Col. Mustafa. In 2005, he defeated Shawn Michaels and in 2006 defeated Randy Orton.
