The Second City Saint successfully conquered the Badass.
‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk, after winning the World Heavyweight title in November, defended it for the first time against the Vision’s Bron Breakker on the first Raw of 2026.
The first Monday Night Raw of 2026 emanated live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The show also marked the first anniversary of the Red Brand on Netflix, as its first episode premiered on January 6, 2025, ushering in a new era for WWE.
To keep the New Year momentum going, WWE presented a special Stranger Things–themed edition of Raw. The World Heavyweight title clash, where Punk defended the title against Breakker, was the main event of the show.
Punk managed to outlast Breakker and outmaneuver the Vision (Paul Heyman, Logan Paul, Bronson Reed, & Austin Theory) with little help from Rey Mysterio, Penta, and Dragon Lee to retain the title.
Is CM Punk in concussion protocol after Raw?

After the show, on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez mentioned that a wrestler has entered concussion protocol after this week’s Raw, and he suspects it’s CM Punk, who suffered a rough fall during his bout with Bron Breakker.
The report sparked widespread speculation among fans, especially given the recent spate of injuries in WWE, with B-Fab, Michin, and Dominik Mysterio all sidelined due to various injuries.
However, PWInsider has now clarified the situation and provided some clarity. The outlet reports that the rumors of Punk being placed into the company’s concussion protocol system after last night’s match on Raw are false.
The outlet also pointed out how the story is on shaky grounds, as Punk did media appearances all day in New York, which would be highly unlikely if he were actually concussed.
“When you think about it, the story doesn’t even hold up to scrutiny because CM Punk was on camera all day doing media appearances in the New York City area starting with early this morning on FOX New York’s Good Day New York. It stands to reason that if Punk was concussed, the last thing anyone should want to do is put him on camera for hours upon hours of interviews all day.”
