CM Punk is actively working to get medically cleared

As the official confirmation of the CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre singles match for Summerslam 2024 approaches, the excitement keeps on growing.

The top WWE Superstar has been out of action for quite some time due to a tricep injury, and his medical clearance for the show has yet to be confirmed. The one positive part is that the hype for this forthcoming showdown has been nonstop on WWE television.

According to PWInsider, many sources have verified that CM Punk will go to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida to work in the ring in the hopes of getting medically cleared by WWE’s medical staff. In a recent promo, he stated that he wanted to be cleared by physicians at a recent episode of Smackdown in his hometown of Chicago, but no specifics were provided.

CM Punk to make return on WWE RAW

There has been no additional significant news on Punk’s progress outside of his participation at the PC, recent performances on Raw, and the recent WWE Money in the Bank premium live event. In addition, he is scheduled to appear on the upcoming broadcast of Monday Night Raw at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where we can expect to learn more about his physical condition and the showdown versus McIntyre at Summerslam 2024.

Punk was injured in his first televised battle since returning to WWE in November, the Men’s Royal Rumble event in January. Before that PLE, he had competed in a few Live Event bouts but tore his tricep in the last minutes of The Rumble in a battle against McIntyre, which sparked the conflict over Summerslam 2024 in the first place.

Interestingly, Punk’s return to the ring occurred precisely a decade after performing the 2014 Royal Rumble fight and then leaving the organization the following night. Between these 10 years, Punk competed in two UFC battles and spent nearly two years in AEW, which was controversial.

Summerslam 2024 is intended to be Punk’s comeback to the WWE singles competition against McIntyre, but only time will tell when that match is revealed. For the time being, McIntyre must be restored to the WWE Raw roster before he can compete in the bout.
