Iyo Sky replaced Kairi Sane after her injury scare in Women’s IC championship tournament
Kairi Sane’s recent injury scare has left fans concerned about her immediate future in WWE. The former Women’s Tag Team Champion has been dealing with knee issues, as she was spotted wearing a knee brace on last week’s RAW.
Unfortunately, things took a dramatic turn this week when she was assaulted backstage by the faction known as the Pure Fusion Collective. The attack left Sane incapacitated, with Damage CTRL teammates IYO SKY and Dakota Kai rushing to her aid.
If Kairi Sane is unable to compete, this will be a major blow to her involvement in the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament. She was scheduled to face Natalya and Alba Fyre in a triple-threat match for a spot in the semi-finals. According to Fightful, IYO SKY will step in to replace Sane, joining Dakota Kai, who has already advanced to the semi-finals and is set to face Zoey Stark.
As of now, WWE has not provided an official update on Sane’s condition, leaving room for speculation. The backstage assault could serve as a storyline way to temporarily write her off television, allowing her time to recover if her injuries are legitimate.
Kairi Sane is widely regarded as one of the best Japanese wrestlers in the world. Her WWE journey began in 2016, where she quickly made an impact by winning the inaugural Mae Young Classic.
Over the years, she has captured the NXT Women’s Championship and the Women’s Tag Team Titles twice, showcasing her versatility and in-ring prowess.
Outside the WWE spotlight, Sane has continued to inspire. Earlier this year, she attended Marigold Summer Destiny in Japan, where she was praised by fellow wrestler Myla Grace for helping her wrestle in the country. Grace revealed how Sane’s recommendation made her dream of competing in Japan a reality, highlighting Sane’s influence and generosity in the wrestling community.
