Penta is dealing with an injury.
Penta recently achieved one of the biggest milestones of his career, capturing the Intercontinental Championship on last week’s WWE Raw. However, the victory came with a surprising revelation.
The luchador confirmed during a post-match interview that he has been wrestling with a torn bicep, an injury that dates back several years.
Despite the physical setback, the luchador has made it clear that the pain is secondary to the moment he has waited decades to achieve. His victory came on the March 2, 2026 episode of RAW, where he defeated Dominik Mysterio to win the Intercontinental Championship.
The finish saw the luchador avoid Dominik’s signature 619 before delivering his devastating Mexican Destroyer to secure the three-count and claim his first WWE title.
Penta reveals details of the injury
During an appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, Penta explained how the injury originally occurred years ago.
“This injury was like, maybe, I don’t remember exactly. Four, five years ago? Something like that,” he said.
He continued by explaining the moment that caused the damage. The newly crowned Intercontinental Champion added that the shoulder area has continued to bother him in recent months.
“I don’t remember who gave me a kick. One kick in my chest but, basically, he broke my tendon, from the shoulder to the bicep, and bro, it’s so hard… and this is the shoulder for the last injury. You remember that? A couple months ago,” Penta said while describing the more recent aggravation of the injury.
The championship means more than the pain

Despite the physical challenges, the newly crowned Intercontinental Champion made it clear that winning championship gold outweighs any discomfort.
“Now, no matter. I’m f*cking glad. Because the gold is on my shoulder brother, The gold is in Mexico right now. No matter what happen with my body, I don’t care. This is the most important.” he said.
The Intercontinental Championship victory also carried deep emotional significance for the veteran performer. The luchador described the moment as the culmination of two decades of sacrifice and perseverance in professional wrestling. He went on to thank those who supported him throughout his journey.
“Man, the first thing was crazy… the emotion fixes it because it’s so very special for me, Thank you to my family, thank you to my friends, thank you to my company and thank you to everyone who believed in me.” he said.
According to the newly crowned Intercontinental Champion, the title represents far more than a personal accomplishment.
“This title represent all these people who never give up because Penta represent all those people… Penta represent the dreamers, Penta represent the fighters.”
For now, the new WWE Intercontinental Champion appears determined to keep competing despite the injury. With the championship now around his waist, the luchador’s focus is firmly on honoring the moment and proving that resilience can overcome even the toughest physical obstacles.
