The son of the man who built WWE wants to go All-Elite.

Shane McMahon hasn’t been in WWE since WrestleMania 39. While everyone is waiting for Shane’s WWE return, there is a growing notion that he may appear at WWE’s rival organization, AEW, at some point.

Though there is no concrete evidence of this development occurring, the buzz in the wrestling business is significant since it comes from an insider who claims Shane McMahon personally contacted AEW stars to explore his transition to the promotion.

Is Shane McMahon join AEW?

On a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, AEW’s Jim Ross explored the possibility of Shane McMahon appearing in the promotion, calling the concept “so crazy that it might work.” In an update, Ross’ co-host Conrad Thompson reported that he received a text from an acquaintance claiming Shane McMahon has reached out to AEW talent about potentially joining the promotion.

The acquaintance was none other than Conrad Thompson and said, “There was a friend of ours. He went out of his way to text me, ‘Hey, that’s not as crazy as you think. I know for sure that Shane McMahon has reached out to wrestlers on the AEW roster to at least hypothetically discuss the idea.’”

Though it may appear preposterous that the son of a WWE owner and a former famous wrestler in the business would consider joining the rival company, everything is possible in the world of wrestling.

JR had more to share on Shane McMahon joining AEW

The former WWE announcer, who has spent extensive time with the Stamford-based organization, stated that his choice to join AEW is solely up to Shane McMahon. Ross attempted to shed light on the potential consequences of this decision, as Tony Khan’s business is a fierce adversary of WWE today, and AEW accused WWE of leaking phony figures to weaken its reputation.

“Shane and Tony Khan being together, how would that work creatively? Heck, who knows? That might be great, but in any event that will he come back in AEW for some reason? That all depends on Shane and what he wants to do,” Ross said.

Shane McMahon’s last WWE debut was at WrestleMania 39, when he was remembered for all the wrong reasons. McMahon was a surprise opponent for The Miz, who co-hosted the event with rap superstar Snoop Dogg. However, seconds into the impromptu match, McMahon tore his quadriceps, prompting Snoop Dogg to step in and defeat The Miz.
