WWE SmackDown is one of the longest-running weekly TV shows!
WWE SmackDown is a professional wrestling flagship television show hosted by the world’s largest professional wrestling promotion, WWE. This is one of the longest-running successful WWE weekly TV shows, since 1999. The blue brand has just moved back to the USA network with all the three major shows coming under Netflix until October 2024.
Weeks ago during the Raw season premiere, WWE officially announced that Raw will be moving from a three-hour to a two-hour format by October 7, 2024, for the rest of the year until Raw debuts on Netflix. As Raw is set to move for two hours, most fans wonder will the SmackDown on USA Network go three hours. Now a backstage report suggests that the fan’s request will be fulfilled pretty soon.
SmackDown to move to three hour format
According to WrestleVotes Radio, they have heard from sources within WWE that SmackDown will be moving to a three hours format from January 3, 2025, after WWE Raw moves to Netflix from the USA Network. The report also reveals that SmackDown will also be available on Netflix immediately after the live show ends, however, it is unknown about the delay in availability on Netflix. Wrestling Votes strongly suggest that the January 3rd show will kick start the three-hour telecasting of the blue brand.
WrestleVotes Radio report,
“We have learned that starting on the January 3 show 2025, Smackdown will indeed shift to three hours. The other big news here is there are rumors that once the show ends, it will be available on Netflix, which we haven’t heard elsewhere. Those are the internal talkings right now that probably the day after Smackdown will be available on Netflix. But the real nugget here is that starting January 3, that show will be three hours.”
As the blue brand is going three hours, there is no update on whether Raw will be moving back to the three hours shown on Netflix debut.
Now all three major shows, Raw, SmackDown & NXT are on the USA Network, however, NXT will be moving to the CW Network on October 1, 2024. On the other hand, Raw will be moving to Netflix by January 7, 2024. This makes SmackDown the only show to be remaining with the USA Network for the next five years.
