This week’s SmackDown will feature multiple surprises for fans!

Tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown (July 4, 2025) was pre-taped on Monday and will air as per schedule tonight at 8 PM ET. The show was pre-taped following the June 30 episode of Monday Night Raw, which served as the fallout show from the Night of Champions 2025.

The June 30 episode of Raw aired live from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, following which the promotion taped the fallout show of the Blue brand.

Why did WWE pre-tape the show?

The promotion chose to pre-tape the show in observance of Independence Day, the U.S. federal holiday celebrated on July 4. It will give talents to enjoy the holiday with their family after a hectic and long trip to Saudi Arabia last week.

Multiple top stars, including Cody Rhodes, Solo Sikoa, Alexa Bliss, Rey Fenix, Nia Jax, Randy Orton, Jade Cargill, and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, are set for an appearance on the show.

What can fans expect from WWE SmackDown tonight?

Fans tuning in tonight can expect a packed show filled with key developments and thrilling matchups. The show will address the fallout from Night of Champions, which, as mentioned, culminated last week in Riyadh and featured two title matches along with the finals of the King and Queen of the Ring tournament, a street fight, and a singles match.

The show will also continue the build towards the July 12 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event and the all-women’s PLE, Evolution. Two fan favorite stars are also slated to make their return on the show to kick off their respective storylines.

The tag team drama involving every team, along with the Wyatt Sicks, will also continue, while the newly created tag team of Rey Fenix and Andrade will be in action against Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom).

Despite their differences, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair will team up to partake in the triple-threat match to decide the participant in the fatal four-way match for the WWE Women’s title, which will be defended by Roxanne Perez and Rauel Rodriguez at Evolution.
