For the first time since filing a federal lawsuit against Vince McMahon in January 2024, Janel Grant has spoken publicly about her allegations and the impact the past several years have had on her life.
Grant, a former WWE paralegal, alleges in her lawsuit that McMahon sexually assaulted and trafficked her during her time with the company. McMahon has denied the allegations.
According to Post Wrestling, Grant addressed survivors and legislators at a briefing held by the Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence. Her remarks marked her first public comments since initiating legal action.

In her 16-minute speech, Grant reflected on the personal toll of coming forward and the circumstances surrounding the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) she signed with Vince McMahon.
“By a series of miracles that I can’t account for, I’m alive today,” Grant said. “When I filed my federal civil lawsuit at the last conceivable second, because I really didn’t want to do this, I knew what I would be about to throw my life into.”
She continued, “I had been dragged in by this NDA into a federal investigation, the SEC, all the consequences, all the things that have happened that have made my life so small and isolated, I didn’t start that.”
Grant also addressed her cooperation with federal authorities and revealed that she struggled with thoughts of self-harm during the ordeal.
“This NDA was a tool that Vince could use to justify anything while I remained in a system of exploitation and actually in a position for anyone to exploit me,” she said.
“When an NDA is used to conceal dangerous behavior, it simply relocates the harm to the next employee, the next office, the next victim.”
Allegations, company response and ongoing concern
Janel Grant further stated that WWE contacted her after the initial report on the lawsuit was published. According to her account, the company sought a joint statement affirming that the relationship was consensual and offered her money in exchange. She did not disclose the amount and said she declined to participate.
She also expressed concern for current WWE employees. “There is a headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, right now that is full of intimidated people that I care very much about,” Grant said.
The broader allegations against McMahon first became public during a WWE Board of Directors investigation into off-the-books hush money payments. That inquiry led to McMahon’s retirement from WWE in 2022.
He later returned to help facilitate the company’s sale to Endeavor, which merged WWE and UFC into TKO Group Holdings. Vince McMahon served as Executive Chairman before resigning from that role in 2024 following the filing of Grant’s lawsuit. The legal process remains ongoing.
