WWE NXT next week will feature John Cena and Cody Rhodes.
John Cena is all set to make his presence felt again on WWE television next week, as the 17-time world champion is announced to appear on the November 2 episode of Monday Night Raw.
His involvement has also been confirmed for the special edition of NXT on Wednesday, which will go head-to-head with the yearly special episode of AEW Dynamite, titled Blood & Guts.
Earlier, it was reported that Cody Rhodes would also be appearing on the same episode, which raised speculation of a possible confrontation between Cena and Rhodes. However, nothing has been announced as of yet.

Why are John Cena and Cody Rhodes appearing on NXT?

The events that Cena will participate in soon are likely to be associated with the John Cena Classic tournament that he announced at the Backlash PLE event in May. The tournament should feature both roster superstars and some NXT stars who are supposed to get a chance to prove themselves in action against the experienced wrestlers.
The former champion is going to come back to Monday Night Raw on November 2, where he is said to make some important announcements. He previously stated that the waiting period is almost over before some news is revealed. Therefore, Cena is likely to provide additional information concerning the tournament. After this event, he might show up at NXT to present the tournament to the NXT wrestlers.
Rhodes will show up at WWE NXT to pay tribute to the memory of his father, Dusty Rhodes, and award the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic trophy to the winners of the tournament. The final will feature Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno against Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, with both teams earning their places through the semifinal matches on October 27.
The timing of these appearances is particularly significant. NXT normally airs on Tuesdays, but the November 4 episode has been moved to Wednesday because of election coverage on The CW. This places the show directly opposite AEW Dynamite’s Blood & Guts special, one of AEW’s major annual events, which has become a fan favorite in recent years.
Having Cena and Rhodes on the same broadcast gives two high-profile attractions for the promotion as it competes for viewers. Their advertised appearances are separate from the matches already announced for the evening.
Matches announced for next week’s NXT (November 4, 2026)
Aside from these major matches, the NXT show on November 4 is expected to feature two major battles. The finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic are set to highlight the night, along with an unsanctioned bout continuing a longstanding feud.
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic final – Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno vs Hank Walker & Tank Ledger
The tournament comes to an end as Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno take on Hank Walker & Tank Ledger. The two tag team members reached the final after beating The Vanity Project in the semifinals, while Hank and Tank booked their spots in the finals after beating the Wagner Brothers. The winners of the match get to keep the Dusty Cup with Cody presenting the trophy.
Unsanctioned match – Dion Lennox vs Cruz Montana
Dion Lennox and Cruz Montana settle their score through an unsanctioned match. The two feuded back in the October 20 show where their face-off did not come to any conclusion, with Cruz still attacking Dion at ringside. It was a chaotic moment that prompted the authorities to get security involved. The unsanctioned match gives the two men the opportunity to sort things out without having match regulations.
With Cena’s appearance, Rhodes presenting the Dusty Cup and two important matches on the card, NXT is preparing for a competitive night against AEW’s Blood & Guts special. More action could be added before the broadcast, but these are the announced attractions so far.
Will John Cena face Cody Rhodes on NXT on November 4?
No. WWE has announced appearances by both Cena and Rhodes, but it has not announced a match between them. Cena is expected to provide an update related to the John Cena Classic, while Rhodes will present the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic trophy.
Why is NXT airing against AEW Dynamite’s Blood & Guts special?
NXT has moved from its usual Tuesday slot to Wednesday, November 4, because of election coverage on The CW. The revised schedule puts the show directly against AEW Dynamite’s Blood & Guts special.
