2025 will be Cena’s final year of pro-wrestling
John Cena will officially wrestle in the WWE Royal Rumble 2025. WWE announced via Twitter that Cena will participate in the event. The post mentioned that it would be Cena’s final Royal Rumble.
In a Royal Rumble announcement video that WWE posted on X, Cena said, “Those are strong words – ‘The last time is now’. “In 2025, there will be a myriad of history-making events. The last time I will ever compete in a Royal Rumble event is February 1st, Lucas Oil Stadium, in Indianapolis, Indiana. And you want to make sure you’re there. It is my last Royal Rumble as the road to WrestleMania kicks off.”
After this run in 2025, Cena also added that fans “can’t see him” as well. The event will take place during the early phases of John Cena’s retirement tour. The 16-time world champion stated that his final run will be in 2025. Cena is a two-time Royal Rumble winner. He won the match twice: in 2008 and 2013. He hasn’t won the Royal Rumble matches since 2018.
John Cena revealed at Money in the Bank in July that 2025 will be his final year with WWE. He told Complex in April that he would appear on the Netflix premiere of “Monday Night Raw” on January 6, which would effectively be the first stop on his exit from pro wrestling.
John Cena’s Royal Rumble record
John Cena is a two-time Rumble winner. He won twice: in 2008 and 2013. He missed his chance to win the World Heavyweight Championship in a triple-threat match against Randy Orton and Triple H at WrestleMania XXIV. At WrestleMania 29, Cena defeated The Rock to claim the WWE Championship.
Cena is on a run to make history as well. He’s a 16-time WWE World Champion. He has 13 WWE Championships and three World Heavyweight Championships. With one more championship reign, he would surpass Ric Flair as the most decorated world champion in company history.
The date to remember for now is January 6, 2025, in the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, where the first Raw on Netflix will take place. Cena confirmed at Money in the Bank that he will be present. Four weeks later, we’ll see Cena at his final Royal Rumble before his final WrestleMania.
