John Cena is all set to face Randy Orton at WWE Backlash 2025.
John Cena made history when he defeated Cody Rhodes for the 17th WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. The “Last Real Champion” had promised to ruin professional wrestling.
The next Premium Live Event will be 2025 Backlash, following WrestleMania 41. The most recent edition of SmackDown revealed the major championship battle for the event, in which John Cena will make his first title defense against his arch-rival Randy Orton, who RKO’d him in a row on RAW and the blue brand this week, kicking off the new season in the Stamford-based business.
Considering only 26 dates remain on his last WWE run, fans will be eager to see when John Cena makes his next appearance and continue the buildup to his fight against The Viper.
According to the official WWE page, John Cena will now appear on May 9 for the final edition of SmackDown before Backlash 2025 at the Nutter Center in Dayton. The Last Real Champion is not slated to appear on any other weekly show until then.
Last week’s broadcast of RAW sparked a lot of discussion about John Cena and Randy Orton. After all, The Viper took out the Undisputed WWE Champion with a brutal RKO. As a result, claims surfaced that a Backlash 2025 bout was planned.
WWE finally declared it official. On SmackDown, John Cena requested that he confront Randy Orton in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. However, no official statement was made until recently.
WWE took to Instagram to unveil the official poster for the match between Cena and Orton. It is going to be a thrilling fight as Orton seeks to earn his 15th world championship.
Fans are surely upset that his WWE career is coming to an end. Nonetheless, they will be interested to see what he has in store for them in his final 26 outings. Will he “ruin” professional wrestling by retiring with the Undisputed WWE Championship? Only time will tell.
