Karrion Kross surprisingly made his WWE exit

Karrion Kross has opened up about the circumstances behind his WWE release, just days after it became official on August 10, 2025.

Appearing on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, the former NXT Champion spoke candidly about the breakdown in contract negotiations and set the record straight on whether his departure was part of a storyline.

When asked directly if this was a “work,” Kross made it clear: “No, I’m not answering questions today as a character.”

“My Way or the Highway” contract offer

Karrion Kross revealed that WWE only presented him with a new contract in the final week before his deal expired. However, he said the offer came with little transparency and a strict 24-hour deadline.

“My contract was up last week. I never actually received an offer until last week,” Kross explained.“I wanted to know how they came to the valuation of that offer. Just wanted some information, some metrics, some analytics… They were unwilling to provide that information and told me that I had 24 hours to agree or they were rescinding it.”

When Kross requested more time to make an informed decision, WWE rescinded the offer the very next day.

Scarlett Bordeaux was not offered a contract

Perhaps most shocking was Kross’ claim that his wife, Scarlett Bordeaux, wasn’t even given a contract offer of her own.

“I was told they would give Scarlett a deal once they were done with me,” he said.

Despite describing the process as unprofessional, Kross made it clear he holds no personal grudges against WWE and remains open to a future return.

“This isn’t to disparage WWE… because there are so many convoluted stories out there. I can empathize with everybody’s experience, every experience exiting the company is different.”

Looking ahead after WWE

While the situation has left fans stunned, Kross insists he is focused on his next steps in wrestling. The 40-year-old stressed the importance of controlling his own narrative and using this moment to his advantage, while still acknowledging WWE’s role in his career.

Whether that future includes another run in WWE or a fresh start elsewhere, Kross’ detailed account has shed new light on the often murky waters of wrestling contract negotiations.

Why did Karrion Kross leave WWE?

Did Scarlett Bordeaux receive a WWE contract offer?
