Top five things Kevin Owens should do if he renews his WWE contract

Kevin Owens is one of the top-rated professional wrestlers in the industry
Kevin Owens’ WWE contract is set to expire sometime in early 2025, as revealed by Owens himself back in May. Reports now suggest that Kevin Owens has already signed the extension, and even if that’s not the case, only the legal formalities are left to be taken care of because a deal between the two is otherwise in place.
And why wouldn’t he resign? He has been an integral part of WWE programming for almost a decade now, and he has main-evented two WrestleManias in the last three years. And now, especially with Triple H at the helm, the chances are he will have a more significant part to play in future storylines as he is one of Triple H’s OG guys.
Assuming that he has indeed signed a long contract with WWE for the upcoming years, let’s take a look at the top five things that he should do next:
Kevin Owens should fight Randy Orton at Crown Jewel
Kevin Owens turned on both Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton in a matter of two weeks. He attacked Cody first, and thereafter, when he realized Randy Orton was siding with Cody Rhodes despite Cody having betrayed them by teaming up with Roman Reigns, he attacked Randy Orton and stomped him to the ground repeatedly until security intervened.
All of this will probably lead to Randy Orton facing Kevin Owens at Crown Jewel. Orton asked for the match to General Manager Nick Aldis, to which he refused, but Randy has connections with his Evolution mentor Triple H, who is running WWE now, and so that will most likely be what Kevin Owens’ next rivalry is going to be.
Kevin Owens should challenge Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Championship at Survivor Series
Randy Orton is just the middleman in this rivalry, and Kevin Owens is mad only because Randy didn’t choose him. As for Cody Rhodes, he is the one who’s actually stung Owens with the poison of betrayal by teaming up with Roman Reigns. So, very likely, once Kevin Owens is finished with Orton, he will be coming for Cody Rhodes.
This is quite interesting since this would most likely mean that KO will have to beat Randy Orton at Crown Jewel since his next feud is going to be with the champion. And if you want him to look formidable, he can’t get into that feud after being RKOed and pinned by Orton the night before.
At the same time, handing Randy Orton another major loss would greatly hurt his credibility. It would be interesting to see how WWE handles the situation.
Kevin Owens should for one final time turn heel on Sami Zayn
Looking at the current landscape of The Bloodline saga, we are almost guaranteed to get a Bloodline civil war games match at Survivor Series between the new Bloodline consisting of Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and the infamous Tanga Loa on one side and the original Bloodline consisting of Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Sami Zayn on the other.
Now, Kevin Owens helped Sami Zayn in his battle against The Bloodline, where the two defeated The Usos for the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships in the main event of WrestleMania 39. The two best friends were separated by the brand split after losing the tag team championships. Now, when Kevin Owens battles Cody Rhodes just because he teamed up with Reigns, how will he feel when his best friend does the same and aligns himself with The Bloodline at Survivor Series?
That will come as a much bigger betrayal probably in his eyes, and this will lead to him attacking Sami Zayn in the future and once again starting their iconic rivalry for the millionth time. And honestly, none of us would complain because they have immense chemistry, and their matches together are always certified bangers. Now, we also have a strong storyline to support the rivalry, so definitely no one’s complaining.
Kevin Owens should win the United States Championship
Kevin Owens hasn’t had this much momentum in his career in a really long time in his WWE tenure. His heel turn induced rivalries against the likes of two massive fan favorites, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes. And even though he is most likely going to be on the losing end of these rivalries, he will come out of it an even bigger star, catering to even stronger reactions from the audience.
But that doesn’t change the fact that Kevin Owens hasn’t held a singles championship in WWE in 7 years. That’s a really long time. Now, looking at the current landscape of WWE, a world title reign for Kevin Owens doesn’t seem likely in the near future. Same for the Intercontinental Championship, as they have hot potatoed the championship a bit, and now they will probably hand Bron Breakker a long title reign.
But with the United States Championship, the situation is slightly different. After Kevin Owens is finished with Cody Rhodes and then probably Sami Zayn, he might have a championship bout next with the likes of LA Knight or Carmelo Hayes, who might be champions at that point. AJ Styles can also be his opponent since there is a slight possibility that he will become the United States Champion by that point too.
Kevin Owens should take on John Cena one last time in his retirement tour
John Cena was the one who brought Kevin Owens to the main roster through the United States Championship open challenge. John Cena was also the guy that put him over by dropping the championship to Owens, who had just freshly joined from NXT.
That made Owens look like a massive deal, and he quickly became one of the biggest heels of the company. Fast forward to now, John Cena is going to be back in his final run for the company, and Kevin Owens has become an industry legend now all the way from a rookie. In many ways, he owes a lot of it to Cena since it is with him that all of it began.
So, it would make all the sense in the world for the two men to fight one last time as part of John Cena’s retirement tour, but maybe the roles reversed this time with KO being the United States Champion and John Cena the challenger.
