As he is just weeks away from the big match, Kevin Owens recalled his first WrestleMania and the actual plans, which was discussed.
Kevin Owens vs The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32?
Kevin Owens in a discussion with Joe Baiamonte of WrestleSphere revealed that he should have faced The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32, as the plans were heavily discussed.
However things got shifted after Shane McMahon’s return, who faced Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match. Owens feels that his WrestleMania debut against Undertaker would have been sweet. However, Owens faced Undertaker once in a Madison Square Garden Show before.
Kevin Owens said,
“I think things just shifted and that was the year that Shane McMahon returned, so obviously at the time, my standing in the company compared to Shane McMahon coming back after all those years, the thought was probably ‘Shane McMahon versus The Undertaker is a huge match.”
“I know it was on the table and it was heavily discussed and it would have been amazing. My first WrestleMania, to be in there with The Undertaker, would have been sweet.”
Owens continued,
“It didn’t happen, but I’ve been in the ring with him. I was actually in the ring with him in the main event of a Madison Square Garden show, so I got to do that with him which was really cool.”
Owens at WrestleMania 32, defended his Intercontinental Championship against six other superstars (Zack Ryder, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Sami Zayn, Sin Cara & Star Dust) in a Ladder Match in which Zack Ryder won by grabbing the title.
Will Owens be successful this time by winning the United States Championship at WrestleMania 40? Comment your thoughts.
