This encounter came about when Mysterio attempted to apologize to Xavier on behalf of the Latino World Order on the September 23 edition of Raw. Still, Xavier had none of it and just ridiculed the former WWE Champion.

A last-man-standing match is a hardcore-style match in which the only way to win is by being counted out while standing, and a wrestler can be counted out from anywhere. A wrestler loses the bout if they are unable to answer a ten-count after being downed, akin to boxing’s knockout rules.

To avoid losing, the downed wrestler must be back on his feet by the count of ten, although he cannot lose by leaving the ring for ten (ring out) while still on his feet. Because of the intense nature of the bout, restraining a downed opponent is an authorized technique to ensure that they cannot respond to the ten-count, even if they would otherwise be able to.
