Latest on Nikki Bella's WWE WrestleMania 42 status amid injury

One-half of the Bella Twins has been out of action ahead of WrestleMania.
Nikki Bella suffered an injury during the March 27 edition of SmackDown during the tag team match alongside her sister Brie Bella against Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.
During the match, Nikki sustained a sprained left ankle injury and has been out of action since, with WWE noting multiple times that she is working to rehab the injury. The injury especially makes things complicated as WrestleMania 42 is right around the corner.
Nikki, along with Brie, is set to partake in the Fatal Four-way tag team match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles on Night 1 of the Mania PLE.
However, Nikki Bella’s injury has thrown plans into uncertainty. While WWE has kept the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) as a backup for the match, it has led to the Asuka vs Iyo Sky singles clash being shelved for Mania.
Nikki Bella’s status remains uncertain
Per Wrestling Observer‘s Dave Meltzer, Nikki Bella’s status for the Women’s Tag Team titles match remains uncertain as we enter WrestleMania 42 week. Meltzer added that he has been told that Nikki’s status is “too close to call.”
As of now, the match includes defending Champions Nia Jax and Lash Legend, along with the teams of Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria. If Nikki is unable to get medical clearance, then Kabuki Warriors are likely going to replace the Bella Twins in the match.
Furthermore, it also means bad news for fans who are still hoping for WWE to announce Iyo vs Asuka if Nikki gets medical clearance. Night 1 of the PLE contains seven matches, while Night 2 features six matches.
The 42nd edition of WrestleMania will take place as a two-night event on April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
