The WrestleMania 42 plans remain under constant change.

Unlike the previous edition, WWE has reportedly not finalized the overall card for the 42nd edition of WrestleMania. The card is going through constant changes in the lead-up to the PLE as the promotion looks to deliver the final PLE on the Road to WrestleMania.

The same is the case for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, which is currently held by Jade Cargill, who is set to defend it tonight on SmackDown against Jordynne Grace.

Notably, Cargill has surpassed 100 days as the Champion, and this is going to be her first title defense. While Cargill is expected to retain, a new report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reveals that plans for the title at Mania are still under discussion.

According to the report, plans for Mania are far from finalized, as WWE’s creative team continues to adjust directions week by week. One bout that has yet to be firmly set is Jade Cargill’s possible championship defense at the event.

The outlet noted that while several scenarios have been pitched behind the scenes, the company has not committed to any single matchup. Two of the leading ideas reportedly under consideration are Charlotte Flair challenging Jade Cargill, or Tiffany Stratton stepping up to face the champion instead.

Meanwhile, the situation has grown even more uncertain as 2026 Women’s Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan has yet to officially declare which championship she intends to pursue at WrestleMania.

WrestleVotes Radio also reported that the promotion is said to be making strategic adjustments to boost interest in WrestleMania 42 after early ticket sales fell short of the company’s internal projections.

Per the report, the promotion held a cross-departmental meeting on February 11 centered entirely on improving ticket demand for the upcoming Mania at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

During the discussion, company officials reportedly conceded that sales have not reached their anticipated benchmarks, prompting leadership to assign each division the responsibility of crafting fresh promotional campaigns and innovative strategies expected to launch toward the end of February.

The report also noted that slashing ticket prices is not part of the current plan. Instead of altering the cost of admission, WWE is said to be focusing on enhanced marketing efforts and creative initiatives aimed at generating greater excitement and driving momentum leading into the ‘Grandest Stage’.

Data shared by WrestleTix shows that approximately 38,000 tickets have been moved for each evening of the PLE so far, with over 5,000 available tickets.

The 42nd edition of WrestleMania will take place as a two-night event on April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
