Drew McIntyre was stuck in the UK after passport complications
Drew McIntyre’s status for WWE SummerSlam 2025 was thrown into serious doubt this past week after the former WWE Champion revealed he was stranded in the UK due to passport issues. McIntyre, who resides in the U.S., was reportedly denied re-entry after returning from a wedding in England with his UK passport.
According to Dave Meltzer, border officials rejected the document, citing that McIntyre is now registered as a U.S. citizen. WWE’s legal team immediately stepped in to resolve the matter. However, concerns lingered over whether the Scottish Warrior would make it to MetLife Stadium in time for the premium live event.
Drew McIntyre confirms SummerSlam status on social media
Thankfully, Drew McIntyre broke his silence on social media with an in-character yet revealing update. The Scottish star filmed himself post-workout and addressed the chaos, taking aim at The Miz, who had teased replacing him in the tag match alongside Logan Paul.
“The update is here. Really wasn’t looking good. It’s not felt good,”
McIntyre said. “I’ve seen Miz… selfish of you, offering to take my place.”
Before he could finish his sentence, Logan Paul appeared next to him and declared, “Hell no. Thinking about partnering with The Miz? I’ve got a Scottish Warrior, stupid.”
WWE legal team successfully brings him back

With that, it was confirmed: Drew McIntyre is officially back in the U.S. and ready to compete at SummerSlam. Paul took a final jab at their opponents, saying Jelly Roll and Randy Orton were in for a rude awakening now that the Scottish powerhouse had returned.
McIntyre, energized and defiant, hinted that Logan Paul’s “more powerful friends” helped expedite the process. Regardless of who pulled the strings, WWE’s legal team deserves credit for securing McIntyre’s timely return to one of the biggest matches on the SummerSlam card.
