John Cena is all set to main event WrestleMania 41
John Cena made headlines during the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday, March 1. He won the Men’s Match, earning a title chance at WrestleMania 41, where he hopes to become a record-breaking 17-time World Champion.
Simultaneously, he turned heel for the first time in almost two decades. He teamed up with fellow WWE star The Rock to savagely assault his WrestleMania 41 opponent, the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
The Cenation Leader did not appear on RAW tonight to explain his conduct, but CM Punk, whom John Cena defeated to win the Chamber, took a jab at the 16-time World Champion.
John Cena will take a break from television again. According to reports, his next appearance will be on WWE’s European Tour. More precisely, he is scheduled to appear on RAW on Monday, March 17, in Brussels, Belgium.
According to WWE’s events website, the 16-time World Champion will perform live at the following tapings following WrestleMania 41:
- May 30th SmackDown in Knoxville, TN
- June 13th SmackDown in Lexington, KY
- June 20th SmackDown in Grand Rapids, MI
Although fans were initially excited by the announcement, it is unlikely John Cena would be greeted warmly when he returns to SmackDown later this year.
Cena ended Elimination Chamber with one of the most surprising moments in pro wrestling history, violently attacking Cody Rhodes and aligning himself with The Rock.
With the world still reeling after Cena’s antics at Elimination Chamber, the Hollywood star has yet to properly explain himself to fans through a follow-up visit.
Cena’s next scheduled appearance is on the March 17th episode of Raw, which will be broadcast live from Brussels, Belgium. Cena will next make two further visits in the UK, at Raw tapings in London and Glasgow.
