Kevin Owens reportedly avoided another injury scare
Kevin Owens appears to have avoided another injury setback after a concerning moment at a recent WWE live event left fans questioning his status.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Owens “is okay from what we are told,” with the report adding that there is “no injury” to discuss. The update should come as a major relief for fans following the Prizefighter’s lengthy absence from WWE.
Owens returned at SummerSlam 2026 after spending approximately 17 months away from the ring because of a neck injury. His latest scare came shortly after another house-show appearance, making the situation particularly concerning.

The footage and images from the moment understandably caused concern among fans, particularly given Owens’ recent history. However, Meltzer’s latest update indicates that the situation was not connected to a new injury.
If that assessment holds, Owens may simply have been selling the effects of the match, adding another memorable chapter to his reputation as one of WWE’s most convincing performers.
Owens’ return has already been eventful
The Prizefighter’s return at SummerSlam immediately placed him back in the thick of WWE’s main-event picture. He was added to a No. 1 contender’s match involving Gunther, Finn Bálor and Sami Zayn.
Kevin Owens won the contest to earn a shot at CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship. He subsequently challenged Punk for the title on the August 21 edition of SmackDown, but was unable to capture the championship.
The following week, Owens again competed in a No. 1 contender’s match against Bálor and Gunther. Zayn’s interference disrupted the contest and prevented a clear conclusion.
Owens’ last match before his extended absence came against Zayn at Elimination Chamber on March 1, 2025. He had originally been scheduled to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41, but his neck injury forced WWE to change those plans.
Joe Hendry ultimately answered Orton’s open challenge at WrestleMania, losing to The Viper.
For now, the latest update suggests Kevin Owens is healthy and available, meaning fans can breathe easier after what initially appeared to be another worrying setback.
