Stark was competing in the women’s MITB Qualifying match!

On the May 19 episode of Monday Night Raw, Zoey Stark locked horns against Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane. The three women battled in the third Qualifying match to secure a spot in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match at the namesake PLE next month.

However, it all went crumbling down for Zoey, who landed awkwardly on her leg while attempting a sniper missile drop kick on Sane. Stark’s leg folded the wrong way during landing and she yelled out in pain as WWE officials and medical personnel rushed to check in.

Stark was unable to walk backstage and had to be carried out by medical personnel. Fans were eagerly waiting for an update on her condition, which has now been provided, courtesy of WrestleVotes. According to host Joe Lowry, Stark is undergoing an MRI and will be heading into surgery.

“Just got word from Dr. Chris Featherstone that she is getting an MRI and headed into surgery, and that story is developing. We just found that out literally minutes before we got on the air,” Lowry said.

Zoey has had recurring knee issues and has had a couple of serious knee surgeries since 2021, when she tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus while performing under the developmental brand, NXT

Zoey Stark was originally planned to take the pin in the qualifying match

The three-way qualifying match saw Kairi Sane return for the first time since December. However, she was unable to win the match as she was pinned by Rhea Ripley, who advanced to join Alexa Bliss and Roxanne Perez.

However, according to Dave Meltzer, Sane was not supposed to get pinned in her first match following the hiatus. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer mentioned that the outcome would have been different from what actually transpired, stating:

“So Kairi Sane (was pinned in) her first match back, which obviously wasn’t the plan. They had no choice, they had to do what they had to do.”

Wrestling Observer Radio’s Bryan Alvarez also revealed that the original plan was to have Stark be the one who was pinned by Ripey, but the plans changed after the injury.
