LA Knight & Sami Zayn have switched brands recently!
A recent unannounced reshuffling by WWE has seen LA Knight move to the Monday Night Raw brand, while Sami Zayn has joined the Friday Night SmackDown roster.
Knight’s move was quietly announced on WWE.com when many noticed a change in his profile on the website. Knight had been a regular presence on Raw since mid-July due to his feud with Seth Rollins and The Vision, but he remained officially listed as a SmackDown superstar until this week.
On the other hand, Zayn, after being attacked by Solo Sikoa and his MFTs last week’s show of Raw, which cost him the match with Rusev and crushed his title dreams, confronted Sikoa and announced that he has joined the SmackDown roster.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, Zayn and Knight were essentially “traded” to refresh the babyface rosters on Raw and SmackDown. WWE commentary may acknowledge the move as an official trade.
Knight is currently set to battle Seth Rollins, CM Punk, and Jey Uso in a fatal four-way match for the World Heavyweight title at the upcoming Clash in Paris. On the other hand, Sami is set to battle Solo Sikoa for the United States title on next week’s show of SmackDown in France.
Is WWE Speed cancelled?
WWE Speed quietly vanished in early July after the company stopped recording matches for the show during TV tapings, and no new episodes have aired on X/Twitter in several weeks.
The promotion has not made any official statement regarding the show’s status, and even Speed Women’s Champion and NXT star Sol Ruca admitted this week that she doesn’t know what’s happening with it.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the show is believed to have been quietly scrapped, likely due to the expiration of WWE’s deal with X (Twitter), as the company’s agreement with the platform came to an end.
The show first aired on X/Twitter in April 2024 as a streamlined version of standard WWE programming, featuring non-title matches with three-minute time limits and title matches limited to five minutes. Both men’s and women’s Speed titles were also introduced. El Grande Americano is the current men’s champion, while Sol Ruca holds the women’s title.
Spoiler for Clash in Paris
With the Clash in Paris a week away, the promotion has continued the build towards the PLE and has announced a total of four matches. Clash PLE will take place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre, France.
However, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the promotion is set to announce a WWE title clash between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre, a US title clash between Solo Sikoa and Sami Zayn, and a Women’s Intercontinental title clash between Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella.
These matches are expected to be made official during the upcoming go-home episodes of Raw and SmackDown, leading up to Clash in Paris on August 31. For the Lynch vs. Bella bout, it would mark Bella’s second singles match of the year, following her win over Chelsea Green on the July 14 episode of WWE Raw.
Notably, as mentioned earlier, the United States title clash between Sikoa and Zayn has been announced for the go-home show of SmackDown next week.
When and where will Clash in Paris 2025 take place?
WWE Clash in Paris 2025 will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre, France. This marks WWE’s first Premium Live Event in the French capital.
Has WWE cancelled its X exclusive Speed program?
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the show is believed to have been quietly scrapped, likely due to the expiration of WWE’s deal with X (Twitter), as the company’s agreement with the platform came to an end.
