Cody Rhodes is poised to become the next flagship star for WWE.

Cody Rhodes’s journey toward the top of the mountain began at WrestleMania 40 when he defeated The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship.

While The American Nightmare is riding the wave of success as the next face of WWE, Rhodes has his personal life and some less-than-known facts that the fans might not have heard. Here are seven of those facts about the current Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes:

7. Cody Rhodes is a huge Comicbook Fan

Outside his magnanimous American Nightmare persona, Cody Rhodes is a vivid comic book enthusiast. He is a massive admirer of comics like X-Men and also a huge fan of the gaming franchise The Legend of Zelda. Moreover, his love for comics is often seen in his spectacular ring gears, which were designed by WWE.

6. Cody when young was an amateur wrestler

Cody Rhodes began his journey in the wrestling world at the Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia. Rhodes competed in amateur wrestling, facing future WWE star Xavier Woods and even winning the Georgia State tournament while excelling in his junior and senior years as part of the 189lb division of athletes.

5. Cody Rhodes inducted his father into the Hall of Fame

Cody’s father, The American Dream Dusty Rhodes, became one of the most renowned athletes in the world of professional wrestling. Dusty’s contributions were immortalized when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007 by Cody Rhodes, who had not even debuted on the main roster then, and his older son, Dustin Rhodes, better known as Goldust.

4. Acting stint

Cody Rhodes had aspired to become an actor before he entered the world of professional wrestling. However, he did work in the world of film and television, playing Derek Sampson in the popular TV show Arrow and Kurt Smoller in Warehouse 13. The Prodigal Son is set to star in the movie Naked Gun, which will be released in 2025. 

3. New Gimmick planned before WWE release

Cody Rhodes was released by WWE in 2016, when his former gimmick, Stardust, failed to captivate the audience, and Rhodes himself felt frustrated with it. However, in a video released on social media, Rhodes and his wife Brandi filmed a vignette where he was rebranded into a new ‘Tony Stark’ type suited impressive wrestler, but the character did not make it to TV then.

2. Theatre lover

Apart from his love for wrestling and acting, Cody Rhodes has a deep interest in theatre. The Prodigal Son has expressed his passion in the past and even hinted at pursuing stage acting in the future.

1. The only Rhodes to become a World Champion

Cody Rhodes’ father, Dusty Rhodes and brother, Dustin Rhodes, went on to become prominent names in the industry. However, despite their multiple accomplishments, neither man has ever won a World Championship in their respective careers. At WrestleMania 40, Cody brought the first piece of the World Championship to the family when he dethroned Roman Reigns and became the first Rhodes to become a World Champion.
