Lineup for WWE SmackDown (August 14, 2026): CM Punk-Kevin Owens face-off; Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton to appear & more

WWE SmackDown this week will feature three title matches.

With the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event and Money in the Bank, WWE has started introducing new storylines and feuds. Multiple major names have also returned to programming as new storylines continue to unravel.

Such was the case last week on SmackDown, where the fallout from SummerSlam was addressed, while introducing new feuds.

What’s in store for tonight’s WWE SmackDown?

Tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown emanated from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, and WWE has announced multiple matches and segments for the show.

As agreed upon, Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid defeated the team of Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green last week to retain the Women’s Tag Team titles. Now, Stratton will have to defend the Women’s United States title against Fatal Influence’s Jacy Jayne.

On the other hand, United States Champion Baron Corbin will defend the title against Carmelo Hayes. Another title match announced for next week will see WWE Tag Team Champions Wepa Up (R-Truth & Damian Priest) defend the titles in a triple threat match against the War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) and The Tongans (Talla & Tama Tonga).

Following the fiery promo battle that almost turned into a brawl, Undisputed Champion CM Punk and number one contender Kevin Owens will meet for the final time on this Friday’s show before the title match in Toronto.

Cody Rhodes tried and failed to get his hands on Randy Orton last week, after the latter returned at SummerSlam to attack Cody and cost him the Undisputed title match against CM Punk. Orton was able to avoid any altercation last week, but will it be the same case, as both are confirmed to appear tonight?

Additionally, the team of Cody Rhodes & Oba Femi will challenge The Vision (Bron Breakker & Austin Theory) for the World Tag Team titles in a dark match.

Returns expected on tonight’s WWE SmackDown

A lot of returns have transpired in the recent editions of WWE SmackDown, which likely means there won’t be any returns taking place tonight.

That said, tonight’s show features a stacked lineup from top to bottom, and fans are unlikely to complain about the lack of returns on the show.
