The go-home WWE SmackDown show sets its final pieces before Atlanta.
WWE rolls into the September 4 edition of Friday Night SmackDown with the promotion using the show to tie off several loose threads ahead of its first-ever Sunday Night’s Main Event, just two days later in Atlanta.
This week’s episode was taped alongside Raw at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 28, following WWE’s double taping in the wake of last week’s stop in Ottawa. It comes right on the heels of Sami Zayn’s ambush of Kevin Owens, Gunther and Finn Balor — an attack that also left CM Punk laid out after he tried to step in. With SNME on the horizon, here is a detailed lineup for this Friday’s show.

The Undisputed WWE Championship picture takes center stage this week, with CM Punk at the center of the fallout from Zayn’s attack. Elsewhere, the Miz marks 20 years in WWE, tag team action is on tap, and the aftershocks of Nikki Bella’s return continue to play out.
With Gunther, Owens and Balor all drawn into the Zayn situation and Punk caught in the crossfire, expect the Undisputed WWE Championship picture to shift further before the show is out.
