Liv Morgan is the current WWE Women’s World Champion

Liv Morgan, the current WWE Women’s World Champion, has been making waves in the WWE universe. She won the World Championship after making a dramatic comeback in 2024 from a shoulder injury that sidelined her for six months.

Upon her return, she ambushed Rhea Ripley from behind on Raw after WrestleMania 40, taking her out of action for several months and forcing her to vacate the Women’s World Championship.

Morgan’s triumphant return reached its peak when she defeated Becky Lynch at King and Queen of the Ring to become the new Women’s World Champion.

Since then, Morgan was on a roll, successfully defending her title multiple times against foes like Becky Lynch and Zelina Vega. An interesting turn of events has been the involvement of Dominik Mysterio, who has inadvertently—or perhaps intentionally—played a significant role in these matches, aiding Morgan in her title defenses. Only time will reveal his true intentions.

However, Rhea Ripley made a shocking return on the July 8th episode of Monday Night Raw, chasing Morgan out of the building just as she was about to kiss her “Papi” Dominik Mysterio once again.

The following week, Ripley issued a challenge to Liv Morgan for a match for the World Championship at SummerSlam, which Morgan eagerly accepted. Liv Morgan has been wanting this match from the very beginning of her so-called revenge tour.

Their match at SummerSlam turned out to be nothing short of electrifying. Liv Morgan didn’t just aim to retain her title; she vowed to take everything away from Ripley, even suggesting that Dominik might turn on Ripley to help her achieve this goal, which turned out to be the case.

SummerSlam 2022

In her debut SummerSlam match in 2022, Morgan faced off against Ronda Rousey in her first title defense. Morgan had recently won the Money in the Bank in July that year and successfully cashed it in on Rousey the same night, who had already endured considerable damage during her match against Natalya. Entering her first title defense, Morgan was clearly the underdog against the formidable Rousey.

In terms of both strength and physicality, “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” had a significant advantage over Liv Morgan, leading most to believe she would lose her title during her first defense. Much to the surprise of many, Morgan outlasted Rousey and left the arena still the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion.

SummerSlam 2024

Morgan defended the Women’s World title against Rhea Ripley at the 2024 edition, defeating the Eradicator to retain the title at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.

SummerSlam 2026

Morgan defended the Women’s World title against the winner of the 2026 Queen of the Ring tournament, Iyo Sky, in Minneapolis. Picking up another win, Morgan not only retained the World title but kept her undefeated record at SummerSlam intact.
