Paige replaced Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 42.
One-half of The Bella Twins, Nikki Bella, suffered an ankle injury during the March 27 episode of Friday Night SmackDown while competing in a tag team match alongside Brie Bella against Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.
During the match, Nikki sustained a sprained left ankle injury and has been out of action since. Despite speculations, Nikki reassured fans that she is recovering and will definitely be back to partake in the Women’s Tag Team titles Fatal Four-way match at WrestleMania.
Nikki Bella failed to get medical clearance for WrestleMania
During the entrances for the match, the Bella Twins (Nikki & Brie Bella) walked out. Nikki walked out with the crutches and a mic in her hand. She informed fans that she failed to get medical clearance, but then introduced the former Divas Champion, Paige, as her replacement.
Paige and Brie went on to not only partake in the match but pin Alexa Bliss after an interference by Nikki and capture the Women’s Tag Team titles.
After the match, Nikkie took to social media to provide an update to WWE fans on her injury, which she kept a hidden secret due to storyline purposes.
Sharing the update, she wrote, “I’ll finally fill you all in soon. Fractured, tore, and sprained my ankle. It’s been a painful two weeks.”
Stitches are visible in the video that Nikki shared. She also added that she will reveal the full story behind the story soon. That said, despite the injury, Nikki remained a true pro wrestler, making appearances and keeping the kayfabe alive, at least as long as it was necessary.
Khel Now sends best wishes to Nikki Bella for a quick and full recovery.
