The 2025 edition will emanate from San Diego.

WWE is all set to close out 2025 in style, after a year of multiple blockbuster and frankly some lackluster PLEs. The 2025 edition of Survivor Series: WarGames, as per tradition, will close out the year. The 39th annual Survivor Series will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Petco Park in San Diego, California.

This will mark the fourth consecutive year that Survivor Series features the WarGames match. The show, as usual, will feature stars from the Raw and SmackDown brands and will stream for the first time on Netflix in international markets.

As the PLE inches closer, let us take a look at the top three major returns that might transpire ahead of the final main roster WWE PLE of 2025.

3. Liv Morgan

Liv Morgan has been sidelined for over three months with a shoulder injury. Morgan dislocated her shoulder in a match against Kairi Sane on the June 16 episode of Monday Night RAW, which forced her to vacate the Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Morgan has been a workhorse, and her absence has been felt in the fandom. Ahead of the PLE, Morgan might make her return to reignite the feud with Roxanne Perez, with the Judgment Day, Dominik Mysterio angle.

2. Rey Mysterio

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio has been absent from WWE programming since April, as he was sidelined due to injury. Rey Mysterio suffered a torn groin and ruptured eardrum and has undergone surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation process.

According to Mike Johnson of PW Insider Elite, Mysterio is expected to be back at the WWE Performance Center this week as he continues his recovery and progresses toward receiving medical clearance for an in-ring return ahead of the Survivor Series event.

1. Gunther

‘The Ring General’ Gunther has been out of action for a few months with a broken nose. In his last outing, he dropped the World Heavyweight title to CM Punk. According to the Wrestling Observer, The Ring General will be John Cena’s last opponent. WWE might announce a tournament to decide Cena’s final challenger, with Gunther emerging as the winner of that tournament.

This report suggests that the former champion is set to return, as John Cena‘s final match is scheduled for December 13 at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., where Saturday Night’s Main Event will take place. This likely means Gunther will be making his return soon to kick off the feud leading up to the final showdown.

When and where will the 2025 edition of Survivor Series take place?

The 39th annual Survivor Series will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Petco Park in San Diego, California. The show will be the final main roster PLE of the year.

Has WWE announced any matches for the PLE?

No, the promotion has not announced any matches, but the PLE will feature the traditional men’s and women’s WarGames match.
