AJ Styles suffered an injury on the 10/04 episode of WWE SmackDown!

AJ Styles made his long-awaited return on the October 04, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Styles revealed that he doesn’t want to talk about his past actions, as he came to rebuild his legacy and called out anyone who is not happy with his return. Styles was confronted by Carmelo Hayes and resulting in an impromptu singles match.

During the match, Styles tried for a Springboard Moonsault, where he landed his foot hard, causing trouble in Styles’s ankle. Styles was checked by the WWE medical staff and Michael Cole from commentary reported that he might have a bad ankle.

The bad ankle resulted in the referee stopping the match, as Styles was no longer able to continue the match. A video of Styles leaving the arena on crutches and the walking stick was revealed. At this stage, a backstage update reveals Styles’ injury status.

AJ Styles injury update

On the latest edition of WrestleVotes Q&A session, it was reported that he heard right after SmackDown, that AJ Styles‘ injury was legit and unfortunate.

“You know I heard right away on Friday that it was legit and I haven’t heard anything else since, so it makes me believe that it is. As unfortunate as it is, I think it’ll make the eventual comeback even stronger.”

Jackie Redmond reported the real injury report saying that AJ has a Lisfranc injury, which is nothing but a midfoot ligament sprain and Styles will be having an MRI scan to determine the severity of the injury.

“Coming out of Smackdown last night, I can confirm that AJ Styles suffered a “mid foot ligament sprain” also known as a Lisfranc injury. AJ will have an MRI later this week to determine the severity of the injury.”

Styles retweeted Redmond’s tweet and said that he believes that everything happens for a reason and will post updates on his injury to his fans. Styles wrote, “I believe everything happens for a reason. I’ll keep you updated.”

AJ Styles is expected to be written off from WWE TV for quite some time, however, there is no update on his return timeline yet. We wish The Phenomenal One a speedy recovery and wish to make a stronger return.
