Major update on Charlotte Flair’s WWE return status & storyline angle

Charlotte Flair has been in a long hiatus for over ten months!
Charlotte Flair is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time with monumental records and multiple championship reigns. She got signed to WWE in 2012 and has a decade long history with the company. Flair is a 14 time Women’s World Champion and is the first and only woman to reach this historical landmark.
She is the fifth women’s triple crown champion and fourth women’s grand slam champion of the company. Despite having a great legacy in the company, the Queen has been away from WWE TV for a very long time due to a leg injury.
In December 2023, during a match against Asuka, Charlotte Flair had discomfort on her knee and was escorted backstage by medical staff. It was made clear that Flair injured her knee and required surgery, which may take her a long time to recover. Flair underwent surgery in January 2024 and has now started her gym session and in-ring training. As most of them wonder when Flair will be back, backstage reports reveal major update on her return and WWE’s plans for her returning storyline angle.
Charlotte Flair’s WWE return plans
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Charlotte Flair is yet to get cleared for in-ring action, despite the backstage rumors about her WWE return. The reports also suggest that WWE is currently planning for a major angle upon her return post-clearance, however the creatives are not put in place yet.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports,
“WWE sources have confirmed that Charlotte Flair is NOT cleared. Those within the company believe there will still be some time before Flair returns to the ring. One WWE source said that until Flair is cleared, it’s unlikely creative will be put in place.”
The recent reports reveal that Flair will be working in a storyline angle with the ‘WWE Women’s Champion’ Nia Jax and ‘Miss Money in the Bank’ Tiffany Stratton, upon return. It is important to note that Jax won the Queen of the Ring and adopted the “Queen” moniker since then, whereas Flair naturally claims herself as “The Queen”. The battle for who is the real queen could naturally set the stage for the rivalry.
On the other hand, there is a big rumor of Tiffany Stratton feuding against Charlotte Flair and potentially having a match at WrestleMania. This could be made possible, if the planned angle is put into work.
