The former AEW Women’s World Champion made her debut on WWE NXT!

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May was recently removed from the AEW roster and was last seen on AEW TV during the AEW Revolution 2025 PPV, where she dropped the title to Toni Storm.

May made her appearance on the June 03 episode of WWE NXT, which emanated from WWE Performance Centre in Orlando, announcing her arrival and putting the entire division on notice.

Jacy Jayne’s address as the NXT Women’s Champion led to a multi-woman brawl and the arrival of May, who appeared on the balcony with a spotlight and declared that the best women’s division in the world just got a lot more glamorous.

However, many fans pointed out how during the promo, May’s name wasn’t mentioned by the commentary team or May herself. WWE’s social media handles also don’t mention her name in the posts after the show.

Since Mariah May’s real name is Mariah May Mead, WWE may be opting for a ring name they can trademark more easily, as using her actual name could be difficult or impossible to secure rights to. According to WrestleVotes Radio, she will be getting a new name once it’s decided upon.

According to Fightful Select, May has signed a multi-year deal. The report further notes that the specifics around the debut were kept quiet so they would not leak.

A very small group of people in the WWE knew “officially” beforehand that May was signed as per the report. The plan has been for her to be on NXT for a while. May’s involvement was conveyed to the talents in gorilla position just before the segment began.
