‘The OTC’ Roman Reigns is currently gearing up to defend the World Heavyweight title against the winner of the tournament to crown his next challenger, Penta. The two stars will collide with the title up for grabs on the upcoming September 14 edition of Raw in Mexico City.
The match will mark Reigns’ fourth title defense, but fans have also been speculating about who could challenge him at WrestleMania 43, with names such as The Rock being mentioned as potential opponents.
On that note, we now have a new update on WWE‘s Creative plans regarding Reigns’ challenger at the ‘Grandest Stage’ in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Roman Reigns vs Oba Femi is the planned main event for Sunday

Dave Meltzer, in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, reported that WWE is believed to be building toward a major showdown between World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and Oba Femi. He also added that the match is being planned as the main event for Sunday (Night 2).
“Nick Khan to Varsity regarding WrestleMania, said that the key creative is already done, barring injury, for WrestleMania,” Meltzer wrote.
“The belief is they are building to Reigns vs. Femi as the main event on the Sunday. As we’ve seen every year, whatever plans there are will get changed likely many times due to injury.”

The report comes after WWE President Nick Khan revealed in conversation with Varsity that the company had already mapped out its main creative plans for WrestleMania 43, though injuries or unforeseen circumstances could still force changes.
WWE already planted the seeds for a future showdown between the two during the post-show of WrestleMania 42, where Femi, fresh off his dominant win over Brock Lesnar, called out Reigns, who defeated CM Punk in the Night 2 main event to capture the World Heavyweight title.
Is Roman Reigns vs The Rock still possible for WrestleMania 43?
Regarding a possible clash between Roman Reigns and The Rock, Meltzer reported last month that The Rock’s filming commitments could make a WrestleMania appearance difficult, especially with his expected involvement in the next Fast & Furious movie.
“Because that movie is gonna take months to film, if he is in it, which he is scheduled to be in it, that him doing a match at WrestleMania would be out the window
I mean, could he fly to Saudi Arabia and show up? Of course. Of course he could, and he could always do that.”
The 43rd edition of WrestleMania in 2027 will take place as a two-night spectacle in April 2027 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. WWE has not announced the dates for the PLE yet.
The event will mark the first WrestleMania to take place outside North America and only the third edition held outside the United States. The previous two international shows were WrestleMania VI and WrestleMania X8, both staged in Canada in 1990 and 2002, respectively.
