Brock Lesnar missed out on some marquee matches in WWE.
Brock Lesnar became one of the marquee names in WWE history. Right from his debut in 2002, he was touted as ‘The Next Big Thing’ and went on to become an accomplished athlete in both wrestling and mixed martial arts.
However, after his defeat at the hands of Oba Femi at SummerSlam 2026, Lesnar announced his in-ring retirement. Furthermore, while he has faced many top names in the business, here are five top WWE names he didn’t get a chance to have a major singles showdown:
5. Bron Breakker

Much like Oba Femi, Bron Breakker is also perceived as another top star in the making in WWE. Moreover, he was himself called the Next Big Thing by Brock Lesnar’s advocate, Paul Heyman.
While they were a part of the same team at Survivor Series: War Games 2025, the duo did not get to have a major singles match, which would have been a top bout for any WWE PLE.

4. Shawn Michaels

During Shawn Michaels’ tenure as an active performer in the 2000s, Brock Lesnar and he did not cross paths. The only time they were involved in a storyline was during Lesnar’s feud with Triple H in 2012, where Lesnar famously broke his arm.
However, a match between them during their prime would have been a marquee match in WWE, which could have headlined even the Grandest Stage.
3. Steve Austin

A match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar was scheduled for an episode of Monday Night RAW in the early 2000s.
However, Austin walked out of WWE after Vince McMahon originally booked him to lose the match, leading the WWE Universe to miss out on a major showdown in the company.
2. Batista

Batista and Brock Lesnar came from the same class of OVW, but never came face-to-face with each other. Only once in 2014 did both superstars stand in the ring together, which drew a huge reaction. So, a match between these two WWE titans would have been a spectacular bout.
1. Gunther

The match that came close to fruition in WWE on more than one occasion was between Gunther and Brock Lesnar. The duo was originally set to collide at WrestleMania 39; however, the Beast was taken off television after his name came up in the Vince McMahon-Janel Grant lawsuit.
Following that, major reports hinted that The Ring General would be Lesnar’s final opponent at SummerSlam 2026, but WWE instead chose to go with Oba Femi. Therefore, the fans never got to witness this match, which would have definitely been a hard-hitting affair inside the squared circle.

Yes, in his appearance on the Pat McAfee show post-SummerSlam 2026, Lesnar confirmed his retirement from pro wrestling.
What was Brock Lesnar’s last match in WWE?
