SummerSlam 2026 can have a blockbuster card.
WWE has officially begun the road to SummerSlam 2026, a two-night Premium Live Event that will take place on August 1 and 2 at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The match card is already beginning to take shape, with three box-office matches made official as of this writing. Witnessing current rivalries and recent events, here are the top five matches that can be added to the WWE SummerSlam card this year:
5. Gunther vs Nick Aldis
The weeks of tension between Gunther and SmackDown GM Nick Aldis took a drastic turn at the end of the Night of Champions PLE. Both were engaged in an argument after The Ring General blamed Aldis for his downfall in recent weeks, and they almost came to blows.
This could have been planting the seed for a blockbuster match at SummerSlam between them, which will mark Aldis’ return to wrestling.
4. Bayley vs Lyra Valkyria

The partnership of Bayley and Lyra Valkyria dissolved after the Bird Lady attacked her ally on RAW last week in London.
The first-ever Women’s IC Champion is ready to go it alone; however, before that, she could have had an epic clash against The Role Model in a top-tier match at SummerSlam 2026.
3. Chad Gable vs Penta

Chad Gable has been mending his ways ever since he was unmasked in AAA. With the crowd’s support back on his side and SummerSlam taking place in his hometown, this could be a major opportunity for him.
It could see him challenge his former rival, Penta, for the WWE Intercontinental title and have a prime spot in the Biggest Party of the Summer.
2. Charlotte Flair vs Jade Cargill
Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill have had multiple run-ins on SmackDown in recent weeks. Moreover, The Queen even cost Cargill a chance to win the Women’s United States title at Night of Champions, where she was battling the reigning Champion Tiffany Stratton.
This could lead to a much-awaited showdown between the two, finally taking place at SummerSlam 2026 next month.
1. Cody Rhodes vs CM Punk

WWE teased the highly anticipated dream match between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes on Monday Night RAW after WrestleMania 42.
With the Best in the World rumored to return anytime now and planned to move to SmackDown, he could start his feud with Rhodes, leading into this blockbuster showdown at SummerSlam this year.
When and where will SummerSlam 2026 take place?
The 39th edition will air as a two-night spectacle on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, 2026, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Who won the 2026 King & Queen of the Ring tournament?
Oba Femi won the 2026 King of the Ring tournament, while Iyo Sky won the Queen of the Ring tournament.
