Matt Cardona (aka Zack Ryder) has a long history with WWE

Matt Cardona better known as Zack Ryder wrestled for WWE for 14 years from 2006 to 2020 and was a four-time champion in the company. However, it was released from contract due to budget cuts in 2020. He went on to wrestle for the Independent Circuits and redefined his career. He became one of the most undeniable wrestlers in the industry.

Cardona has been looking forward to returning to WWE after huge success in the Indies. With a five-word message, Cardona himself has teased his potential WWE return, which could happen pretty soon.

Matt Cardona hints WWE return

Matt Cardona on X/Twitter reposted his tweet and wrote, “Almost time for the comeback…” teasing his WWE return. In the post, he shared a videotape of him and wrote,

“4 years ago…April 15, 2020…I was released by WWE. It was a blessing in disguise. I’m forever grateful for my time in WWE, but Zack Ryder needed to die for Matt Cardona to live! No matter how you define success…accolades, money, happiness…these past 4 years have been the most successful of my career. Thank you to all of my fans…old and new. It’s time to start another year of proving us right! Where should I show up next? #StillHere #AlwayzReady”

In the video, a radio played Zack Ryder’s entrance theme ‘Radio’ and Cardona paused it to cut a videotape about his WWE release four years ago and how he became Zack Ryder to Matt Cardona, the Indie God. He then revealed that he is a free agent and he could show up anywhere, anytime.

Matt Cardona on the videotape said,

“On April 15, 2020, I got released by WWE. 14 years of highs and lows were over in an instant. Zack Ryder needed to die for Matt Cardona to live. But these last four years, we are not about proving people wrong, they’re about proving myself and my fans right. I became the death match king, I became the Indie god. I became the world champion. I’m not just the freeagent, I am the Agent. I can show up anywhere against anyone at any time, because I am Matt Cardona and I am always ready.”

A few days ago, Cardona in an interview with Inside the Ropes said that he would go back there, no matter who is in charge, but he doesn’t want to be just another guy on the roster, but to have a career-defining moment before his retirement like a WrestleMania moment or in a Madison Square Garden. However, he wanted to have his comeback as Matt Cardona & not as Zack Ryder.
