MLW President Cesar Duran goes off on WWE.

Major League Wrestling didn’t hold back on WWE during the latest broadcast of Fury Road. The show opened in Dallas, Texas, with MLW President Cesar Duran, best known to many as Dario Cueto in Lucha Underground, delivering a fiery promo that immediately grabbed attention.

Flanked by Salina de la Renta, Duran threw a thinly veiled shot at WWE’s overseas dealings, drawing loud reactions from the live crowd.

“While some other company packs up their big show and shipped it off to Saudi Arabia to take that blood money, we come here with the real deal right here in Texas!” Duran said. He didn’t name WWE directly, but the target was crystal clear. Salina added fuel to the fire, promising fans that MLW doesn’t “play soft” or “play safe,” but instead always chooses violence.

Opera Cup heats up in Dallas

The night featured three first-round matches in the prestigious Opera Cup tournament. Austin Aries, making his first MLW appearance in six years, scored a big win over Kushida to advance.

Paul London also progressed, forcing Okumura to tap out in their bout. In a controversial finish, Volador Jr. ripped Titan’s mask before rolling him up for the victory, ensuring the rivalry is far from over.

Backstage tensions escalated quickly, with Aries and London brawling after their respective wins, setting the stage for a heated second-round clash next week. MLW clearly intends to make this year’s Opera Cup one of the most unpredictable in recent memory.

Strong undercard and chaotic main event

The undercard was packed with action, highlighted by Shotzi Blackheart’s victory over Alejandra Quintanilla after hitting her trademark top-rope senton. Japanese legend Satoshi Kojima also shined, defeating Mr. Thomas in a 10-minute lightning match with his signature lariat.

The show kicked off with a trios contest, as Diego Hill, Atlantis, and MLW National Champion Blue Panther outlasted Zandokan Jr., Difunto, and Barboza.

But chaos reigned in the main event segment, where MLW Champion Mads “Krule” Krugger and World Titan Federation Tag Team Champions Bishop Dyer and Donovan Dijak never officially started their advertised match. Instead, a wild brawl broke out, leaving fans buzzing about what comes next.

Meanwhile, Alexander Hammerstone laid down a challenge, declaring he’s ready to take control of the MLW World Championship picture. Upcoming matches were confirmed for the Slaughterhouse event on October 4th, including Hammerstone vs. Matt Riddle and Shoko Nakajima vs. Himawari.

Cesar Duran’s promo may have set the tone, but Fury Road delivered a full night of surprises and storylines, proving MLW isn’t afraid to stir the pot in pro wrestling.

Did Cesar Duran directly mention WWE in his promo?

No, but his comments about companies taking “blood money” from Saudi Arabia were clearly aimed at WWE.

Who advanced in the Opera Cup tournament at Fury Road?

Austin Aries, Paul London, and Volador Jr. all won their first-round matches to move forward.

When is MLW’s next big event?

MLW returns with Slaughterhouse on October 4, featuring Alexander Hammerstone vs. Matt Riddle and Shoko Nakajima vs. Himawari.
