We are less than a week away from the greatest professional wrestling event of all time, WrestleMania 40. WWE has booked a total of twelve matches for the two night show and the main events of both the nights have been confirmed.

The Rock & Roman Reigns will take on Seth Rollins & Cody Rhodes on Night 1 & Cody Rhodes will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship on Night 2 in the main event slots.

There is a rumor circulating that there will be an involvement of John Cena & Stone Cold Steve Austin  in the main event. However a latest report gives detail behind that and says that there is a mystery spot in the WrestleMania 40 card.

Mystery slot at WrestleMania 40

Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter addressed the rumors of John Cena & Stone Cold Steve Austin being part of the WrestleMania 40 main event. Meltzer said that he was “told not to read into that regarding the main events”.

As the rumors of them not being involved in the main event is said, Meltzer wrote that there is a “mystery slot” in the card open for the show, which probably would be meant for them, however he is unclear whether the slot is for Cena or somebody else.

The rumor of John Cena & Stone Cold Steve Austin’s involvement in the main event match began after last week’s episode of Raw, where they got featured in the promotional truck, while Rock was attacking Cody Rhodes brutally outside the AllState Arena. The rumors got strengthened when Wrestling Votes reported that the placing of promotional trucks was intentional and not a coincidence.

Wrestle Votes previously on X wrote,

“Everything is done on purpose. Two weeks out from WrestleMania, the backdrop of these WM ‘specific’ trucks last night would have sufficed. I’ll leave it at that…”

WWE also has confirmed a number of stars’ appearances for the show including the WWE Women’s Champion Michelle McCool, legendary manager Jimmy Hart, WWE Hall of Famers JBL, Ron Simmons & Kane.

Although we weren’t able to see John Cena & Stone Cold in the main event, we could at least see them in some kind of a segment or in a different role at Mania. How excited are you for WrestleMania 40?
