Naomi is currently on a hiatus!
The buzz around AJ Lee’s rumored WWE comeback continues to get louder, and now one of her former rivals has spoken out.
Naomi, the former WWE Women’s World Champion, reacted to the speculation with both excitement and frustration, noting that her current pregnancy means she will have to wait before getting the chance to step back into the ring with the returning star.
On X, Naomi made it clear that she is eager for the opportunity to renew her battles with Lee, a performer she clashed with countless times during the Divas Era.
Her comments only add to the anticipation that AJ Lee’s return will be more than a one-off, and could open the door to dream matches across WWE’s women’s division.

A storied history between Naomi and AJ Lee

Naomi and AJ Lee were staples of WWE’s women’s division in the early 2010s. Their history includes dozens of televised matches, pay-per-view clashes, and countless untelevised house show encounters.
Lee’s final WWE match on the March 30, 2015 episode of Raw even saw Naomi by her side, teaming with AJ and Paige (now Saraya) to defeat The Bella Twins and Natalya.
That shared moment became AJ’s farewell to WWE, but Naomi’s comments now prove that both women never considered their story to be finished.
While Naomi’s current focus is on her pregnancy and recovery, her eagerness suggests that once she returns, she wants AJ Lee to be one of her first major opponents.
AJ Lee’s return gaining traction
Though WWE has yet to confirm Lee’s comeback, signs are mounting. WWE Shop briefly posted and quickly deleted a new line of AJ Lee merchandise, a move that only intensified speculation that her return is imminent.
Reports also suggest she will be involved in the ongoing feud between CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and Becky Lynch, potentially leading to a blockbuster mixed tag team match at Wrestlepalooza.
For Naomi, that means waiting patiently. But her reaction shows just how much respect AJ still commands among WWE’s women’s roster, even a decade after her retirement. Whenever she laces up her boots again, AJ Lee will have no shortage of opponents ready to step up.
Is AJ Lee officially returning to WWE?
No official announcement has been made, but reports and leaked merchandise strongly suggest she is coming back soon.
When was AJ Lee’s last WWE match?
Her final match was on March 30, 2015, when she teamed with Naomi and Paige to defeat The Bella Twins and Natalya on Raw.
Will Naomi face AJ Lee if she returns?
Naomi has expressed her desire to face Lee again, but due to her pregnancy, fans will likely need to wait until sometime in 2026 for that matchup.
