The SmackDown General Manager has had a very successful first year in WWE
As 2024 comes to a close, analysts reflect on this year in professional wrestling. WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis singles out WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan as the company’s Most Valuable Player this year.
Aldis told Insight With Chris Van Vliet. “[Liv Morgan] is the MVP of 2024. That character, and I’ve told her a couple of times, ‘You are crushing it. You have found exactly like what your perfect heel [is],’ because a good heel, you have to have some self-awareness. You have to know what impression you give off to people when you walk in the room. Liv Morgan is a stunningly good-looking girl. That can work against you. And she finally, I think, realized ‘I can use that.’”
Morgan is currently the WWE Women’s World Champion and has a romance angle with Dominik Mysterio, whom she stole from Rhea Ripley. Morgan and Mysterio are part of the new Judgment Day roster, which also includes Raquel Rodriguez, Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and Carlito.
Nick Aldis believes Dominik Mysterio is the best heel of the Modern era
Nick Aldis has transformed what it means to be a wrestling authority figure in several ways since his WWE debut in October of last year. It all began with his first segment with Dominik Mysterio, in which Aldis ridiculed the new star with a single statement, establishing himself as a General Manager who will not be pushed about.
The former NWA champion pondered on the episode during a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet. He mentioned that he had been working as a producer for the company for a few months at the time, so he had a little more liberty to make changes.
Nick Aldis also discussed Dominik Mysterio’s popularity, claiming that he is the ideal place for a heel character in the modern era. He stated that the young celebrity is someone you want to dislike, and he has genuine fire, which is really difficult to obtain.
He said, “Dom has so much heat, and because that Dom character is the guy you love to hate, which is, to me, the sweet spot, especially in the modern era, that’s the sweet spot you want as a heel character.”
He also added, “Sometimes it’s hard now to have heat—real heat—but Dom has it. He’s the guy they love to hate.”
The SmackDown GM also praised Dom’s companion in crime, Liv Morgan. He added that Morgan has been with WWE for a long time and cannot be considered a breakout star, but Aldis believes she is the MVP of 2024.
