Former professional football punter and kickoff specialist Pat McAfee has turned his love of pro-wrestling into a successful career in the WWE, which not only consists of moments on the announce desk but also inside the squared circle.

Along with being a color commentator for Monday Night Raw, McAfee is also an analyst on College GameDay and hosts The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN.

McAfee made his first WWE appearance as a guest commentator at NXT TakeOver events in 2018, before officially signing with the company in February 2019. In 2020, he began a feud with Adam Cole, making his in-ring debut at TakeOver XXX, where he suffered defeat.

This was McAfee’s second pro wrestling match, as he previously competed against Warpig at the IWA East Coast Scarcade Event, which emanated from South Charleston Community Center in South Charleston, West Virginia, USA.

McAfee went on to serve as a color commentator for major PLEs and SmackDown throughout the 2020s, though he took regular breaks to focus on his role with College GameDay during the late summer to winter months.

He made his return to WWE ahead of the RAW Netflix debut on December 14, 2024, to call Saturday Night’s Main Event alongside Michael Cole and Jesse Ventura. McAfee later joined Cole again to provide commentary for Monday Night Raw on Netflix.

As mentioned above, McAfee has also occasionally stepped into the squared circle to settle some scores and has even participated in a men’s Royal Rumble match. Here we take a look at his full WWE record, along with opponents and results.

However, Gunther was not pleased with Raw’s commentary team as he confronted both Cole and McAfee. The confrontation led to Gunther attacking Cole, locking in the sleeper hold, McAfee jumped in to aid Cole and attacked the former Champion, but paid the price as he was put to sleep.

The feud between the two stars culminated in a singles clash at WWE Backlash 2025, where Gunther picked up a dominant and decisive win, putting McAfee to sleep. The Backlash match is the most recent of McAfee’s in-ring career.
