The Celtic Warrior has been out of action for some time now
Sheamus, the Celtic Warrior was out of action due to his shoulder injury, as reported by Dave Meltzer. His last in-ring match was against Edge, during his farewell match on August 18, 2023, who is now signed with AEW as Adam Copeland.
On the RAW Edition of 8th April 2024, WWE aired a surprise video package teasing his return, which can happen anytime now. Here are the top five possible directions WWE can go with upon his return to in-ring action.
Heel Turn
Whether it was with the authority or the League of Nations, WWE has never disappointed the fans with the heel self of Sheamus, while people said that his previous face run was one of his best in WWE, some of the fans still feel that Sheamus as a heel can do wonders now as well, the fans are also demanding a single’s run for him rather than giving him a faction like Brawling Brutes last time he returned.
Going for the Mid Card
Instead of going for the main event directly, his next WWE run could be planned in such a way that he first tries to conquer the mid-card. His feuds could be against Mid Card Wrestlers such as Shinsuke Nakamura and Big Bronson Reed, the possible feud against these Wrestlers could make his return to WWE look better.
Challenging Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental title
If in case Sheamus goes for the Mid Card, he can challenge Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental title that he won in WrestleMania 40. A fight between one of the most liked baby faces of the company and one of the greatest heels would be rooted by everyone.
Challenging Damian Priest for his World title
If in case Sheamus remains one of the Baby faces in the company, he could directly go on and challenge Damian Priest for his World Title.
Sheamus is one the wrestlers who could act as a workhorse and defend their titles in most of the weekly shows, the pop that his video package got shows that he is liked by most of the people who root for professional wrestling, thus he could be the best one to pass on the World Title.
Winning the Money in the Bank ladder match
Sheamus cashed in his first money in the bank at Survivor Series 2015 when he was a heel who was working for the authority. If Sheamus returns as a heel, he could also win the Money in the Bank 2024 and could cash it in on Cody Rhodes or Damian Priest for their Championships respectively. A possible match could also be planned for him following the successful cash-in, indicating a feud with Cody Rhodes or Damian Priest.
While it is difficult to guess what WWE is planning on his return, one should be ready to see Sheamus at his best this time if he goes for a single’s run instead of working in a faction.
