What stipulation can WWE add for CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre II?
WWE SummerSlam 2024 was a night to remember, especially in the main event, when Cody Rhodes successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa, owing to Roman Reigns’ surprising comeback.
Another highlight of the evening was Drew McIntyre’s grudge match triumph over CM Punk, with Seth Rollins serving as the special guest referee. The encounter was the culmination of months of tension and bad blood, beginning with McIntyre hurting Punk at the 2024 Royal Rumble and ending with Punk losing McIntyre many championship opportunities.
Despite Drew McIntyre’s hard-fought victory, the battle between the two superstars is far from finished. Punk’s concentration was divided throughout the battle, resulting in him assaulting Rollins with a GTS, allowing McIntyre to capitalize and take the victory.
This result allows their enmity to continue. However, before they can go on to other programs, Punk and McIntyre must finally settle their disagreements. The depth of their animosity necessitates a definitive, ruthless confrontation, which might be achieved by one of the following conditions.
No Holds Barred Match
The No Holds Barred rule allows for a match with no disqualifications, allowing both Punk and McIntyre to use their whole arsenal of maneuvers and weapons on each other. This condition would allow them to brawl all around the arena, transforming their fight into a chaotic, violent display befitting their mutual animosity.
WWE may use this stipulation as the next natural step after their SummerSlam match, with Punk seeking another go at McIntyre, but only under terms that let him fully vent his displeasure and wrath. McIntyre, buoyed by his triumph, would readily accept such a challenge, resulting in a no-holds-barred conflict in which only the fiercest opponent can emerge victorious.

Strap Match
A Strap Match would be an appropriate stipulation considering the personal and brutal nature of Punk and McIntyre’s animosity. This form of the match would involve both men being bound together by a leather strap, ensuring that they were always within striking reach of one other. The severity of a Strap Match stems from the fact that the strap may be used as a weapon, allowing both superstars to inflict maximum suffering on their opponents.
This restriction might be inserted to prohibit one fighter from fleeing or avoiding the other, adding to the storyline of Punk attempting to dodge McIntyre’s strength. McIntyre, sick up with Punk’s meddling and mind games, might challenge him to an old-school fight, leaving Punk with nowhere to escape and forced to face the consequences of his actions. The Strap Match would be both an homage to vintage wrestling and a modern-day clash between two of WWE’s most prominent talents.
Hell in a Cell Match
Given the hostility between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre, a Hell in a Cell battle would be an ideal location to settle their score. The structure’s brutal character has traditionally been reserved for the most intense rivalries, and this one meets the description.
The steel confines of the jail would preclude outside meddling, leaving Punk and McIntyre to depend only on their ability to triumph. This match style also utilizes both men’s strengths—McIntyre’s sheer strength and Punk’s cunning in a no-escape setting.
WWE could easily lay the ground for this condition by leveraging Punk’s hatred over the SummerSlam decision. Punk may claim that the only way to establish who is the better man is to compete in a bout where neither can escape the other and their vicious conflict can culminate in one of WWE history’s most memorable structures. With Bad Blood as a possible setting, this Hell in a Cell match might be the last blow to their passionate animosity.
