Asuka has been absent from WWE programming since May 2024!
The Empress of Tomorrow’ Asuka, has been absent from WWE programming since 2024 following her tag team title loss alongside Kairi Sane. After the loss on Monday Night Raw, she revealed that she had been dealing with a knee injury for months and had successfully undergone surgery.
This was her last appearance on WWE as, despite speculations, Asuka has been absent from WWE programming. However, she has been active on her social media handles, and fans are hoping for the return of the multi-time World Champion.
Recently, multiple accounts on X (Twitter) started citing a report from Fightful and claiming that the Empress on Tomorrow is going to return in the upcoming weeks of Raw with a new demeanor and strong push, possibly winning gold right after her return.
However, Sean Ross Sapp of Fighful called them out, stating that the outlet has not reported on it, nor did it make any such claims. Fightful Select has now officially provided an update on Asuka’s WWE return timeline.
Asuka still has not been medically cleared to return
According to Fightful Select, despite speculation, the Empress of Tomorrow is not back with WWE and remains out of action. The report further reveals that, after speaking with sources, the former Champion has still not been medically cleared to return.
Furthermore, the report notes that at the time of her injury, Asuka was expected to be sidelined for the remainder of 2024, with the possibility of missing WrestleMania. Currently, there are no creative plans in place for her as she continues her recovery.
However, Fightful also noted that earlier this year, there were creative discussions about her eventual return. One source mentioned that there had been talk of a potential surprise comeback, even though it was understood that the chances of her being cleared in time for WrestleMania were slim.
The Empress of Tomorrow last competed at Backlash 2024, where she, alongside Kairi Sane, suffered defeat, losing the WWE Women’s title to the team of Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. The Damage CTRL stable, which she was a part of, has also been disbanded quietly following the release of Dakota Kai earlier this month.
