The American Nightmare has been absent from WWE programming since WrestleMania 41!
‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes has been absent from WWE programming since Night Two of WrestleMania 41 PLE, which emanated on April 20 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Cody Rhodes battled John Cena in the main event of the ‘Grandest Stage’, where his Undisputed WWE title was on the line. However, Rhodes was unable to defend the title as Cena, with a little help from Travis Scott, pinned Rhodes to win the title.
The win saw Cena break the tie with Ric Flair and become the one and only 17-time WWE World Champion, while Rhodes’ title reign ended at 378 days. The American Nightmare defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 to kick off his legendary title run.
During his absence following WrestleMania 41, WWE fans have been eagerly waiting for the former Undisputed Champion to return and possibly battle Cena in a rematch. Amid his absence, during a Q&A, WrestleVotes has provided an update on Rhodes’ status for Money in the Bank 2025.
WrestleVotes noted that the American Nightmare is still scheduled for the show, which is set for June 7 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. Rhodes’ involvement in the show is still unknown, but The American Nightmare will be in town.
“I do believe he’s still scheduled to be a part of the Money in the Bank show. Don’t know if he’s wrestling, don’t know if that’s when his return will happen. But as far as I know, he will be in Los Angeles for that PLE.”
Cody Rhodes is listed for the May 16 episode of SmackDown
While the American Nightmare was advertised for the SmackDown after WrestleMania show, he did not make any appearance, leading to fans speculating about his next appearance.
The American Nightmare has been locally advertised for the May 16 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, suggesting that’s likely when he’ll make his return to TV. However, it is worth noting that WWE has not confirmed this appearance on their programming.
