Cody Rhodes attacks Randy Orton; new stipulation match for WrestleMania 42 & other possible spoilers on WWE SmackDown tonight (March 27, 2026)

Tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown will take place from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The show will feature the in-ring return of Jelly Roll, who will battle Kit Wilson in a singles match. Women’s U.S Champion Giulia will also be in action against Tiffany Stratton in a non-title match.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are set to take on The Bella Twins (Nikki and Brie Bella). Additionally, General Manager Nick Aldis will give an update on Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu after their intense brawl on last week’s episode.

4. Another DQ finish

After another brawl, leading to a DQ finish, transpired on last week’s show, The Bella Twins (Nikki & Brie Bella) will take on Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss in a tag team match.

With reports of a multi-team tag team match at WrestleMania, featuring the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, fans can expect another controversial finish, featuring even the Tag Team Champions.

3. Royce Keys debuts

As mentioned, Jelly Roll will take on Kit Wilson in his in-ring return since SummerSlam 2025. The match was announced following a beatdown by Wilson last week, after a promo battle.

The match comes in the backdrop of reports of Jelly Roll’s involvement at WrestleMania and Royce Keys being his tag partner. If this is, in fact, the current plan, Miz is likely going to get involved in the match, possibly leading to Royce Key’s debut on SmackDown. Keys has been absent since his initial debut at the Royal Rumble.

2. WrestleMania 42 announcement

Following their chaotic brawl on last week’s show, Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu ended up crashing off a high steel structure in the final moments. This week’s SmackDown will feature an update from GM Nick Aldis on both superstars.

Fans can expect another potential brawl between the two, leading to the match announcement for WrestleMania 42, and with reports of a Hell in a Cell match, things are going to heat up even more than last week.

1. Cody Rhodes returns with vengeance

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes is being advertised for tonight’s show. Rhodes was absent from programming last week, after a vicious beatdown by Randy Orton during the Friday 13 edition. Rhodes has hinted at Cody adopting a more aggressive, edgier “fight fire with fire” character to counter Orton.

The Undisputed Champion is definitely going to return with a chip on his shoulder and vengeance on his mind. Fans can expect a retaliatory attack from Rhodes, setting the tone of the feud for the weeks to come.
