Top four possible surprises for WWE RAW tonight (May 5, 2025)

The Women’s World Champion will be in action tonight on Raw!

Ahead of Backlash 2025 PLE, WWE is set to deliver the go-home show of Monday Night Raw tonight. The May 5 episode of the Red brand is set at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. Superstars scheduled to perform at the PLE will meet for the final time before their clash on May 10.

After making his return on Raw after WrestleMania, Rusev is set to battle Otis in a singles match, while Women’s World Champion Iyo Sky will clash with Roxanne Perez. Seth Rollins, Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Becky Lynch are also scheduled to appear on the show.

Additionally, Penta and JD McDonagh are set to clash to settle their dispute. Ahead of the stacked show of WWE Raw from Omaha, here are the top five surprises that might be in store for this week’s episode.

4. Lyra Valkyria hits back

The confrontation between Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria and Becky Lynch last week ended in chaos as they clashed ahead of their title match at Backlash. However, Lynch had the last laugh as she took out the Champion with a sneak attack near the entrance ramp after retreating earlier.

Lynch is now set to call out Valkyria tonight and the Champion will likely retaliate for the sneak attack in Omaha.

3. El Grande Americano interferes

On last week’s show, Chad Gable in a backstage segment mocked Penta as his brother Rey Fenix lost to El Grande Americano at WrestleMania. However, Penta was in no mood as he dropped Gable with a vicious kick. The segment will likely be used to set up a feud between the two, as Americano’s (Yes, Gable & Americano are the same person) feud with Rey Mysterio was put on a shelf suddenly due to Mysterio’s injury.

Penta will have to battle on two fronts if such happens, and Americano’s interference would also mean him feuding with the luchador, furthering the storyline of him making a mockery of lucha libre and a real luchador defending it.

2. Tag team match at Backlash

Women’s World Champion Iyo Sky is set to battle Roxanne Perez in a singles match, this was set up after Sky saved Rhea Ripley during her singles match against Perez last week. Ripley was attacked by Perez and Giulia.

There is a high probability of Giulia interfering in the match and Rhea Ripley making the save, the promotion is already teasing a storyline between the two, and a tag team match at Backlash might be on the cards tonight.

1. Sami Zayn retaliates

Seth Rollins and his team will appear on tonight’s show to give a message to the WWE Universe. This comes following their decimation of Sami Zayn last week, as Zayn refused to take the Rollins’ offer and move to SmackDown along with an Undisputed title shot.

It is unlikely that we have seen the last of Zayn on Raw, and with Roman Reigns and CM Punk on break through Backlash, the promotion will likely develop the storyline between Zayn and Rollins further, maybe a match between Zayn and Breakker at the upcoming PLE.
