The Rock is set to make his return to SmackDown this week
The Rock is known to shock the pro wrestling world with his antics over the years. He did just that by announcing via his X (Twitter) handle that he would be making a surprise appearance at the upcoming edition of SmackDown, taking place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisana.
The Final Boss’ shocking news has once again ignited speculations about his return to in-ring action at the upcoming WWE WrestleMania 41 event after reports emerged that he would not be competing this year. Should that happen, here are the top five matches for The Rock at The Show of Shows this year:
5. Solo Sikoa
The Rock’s return might just give a boost to the ongoing momentum of one of his family members, Solo Sikoa. The former Tribal Chief worked closely with The Rock last year on the road to WrestleMania. He could return to offer Solo a chance to step in the ring with ‘The High Chief’ to redeem his Tribal Combat loss to Roman Reigns and possibly ascend to the next level at his expense at WrestleMania 41.

4. CM Punk
CM Punk has still not forgotten that The Rock was one of the reasons he missed out on main-eventing WrestleMania many years ago. He even took shots at him last year during a WrestleMania kick-off event in Las Vegas. The Best in the World could finally get his hands on The Final Boss in search of a marquee spot at WrestleMania 41, and it would be a memorable encounter at The Show of Shows this year.
3. John Cena
The Rock and John Cena had one of the most storied rivalries in WWE history, with two back-to-back WrestleMania main event showdowns. Both men scored a victory over each other, and a third and final encounter between them at WrestleMania 41 could be a major showdown for the event. This would be the last time both icons collide, as Cena is set to end his career at the end of 2025.
2. Cody Rhodes
The initial reported plan for the main event of WrestleMania 41 was The Rock vs Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. But it was reportedly dropped after speculations emerged that The Rock would not be competing at the event.
However, with his upcoming appearance, he could use his influence as the TKO Board member to postpone the match between Rhodes and the winner of the Elimination Chamber and insert himself into the original plans to happen.
1. Roman Reigns
The biggest dream match in WWE today is undoubtedly The Rock vs Roman Reigns. The fans were very close to seeing it last year but rejected the idea in support of Cody Rhodes finishing his story. With that being done and dusted, The Rock’s upcoming appearance could give what they have been asking for a lot of years.
Moreover, the possibility is even higher, as The Rock mentioned in a follow-up comment that he would be coming after someone in the locker room. It could be Roman Reigns, setting up one of the biggest showdowns in WWE history.
