AJ Lee has been absent from programming since Wrestlepalooza.

After over a decade of absence, AJ Lee finally made her highly anticipated return to aid her husband, CM Punk, in the feud against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. The return led to a mixed-tag team match between the two real-life couples at the inaugural Wrestlepalooza in September.

Lee and Punk emerged victorious in the clash; however, Lee has since been absent from WWE programming despite inking a new multi-year deal with the promotion. Since her absence, fans have been speculating about her return.

Many have also wanted to see her return and revive the feud with Becky Lynch, leading to a clash between the two with the Women’s Intercontinental title on the line.

WWE has kicked off the build towards the final PLE of 2025, Survivor Series, and the two marquee WarGames matches on the show have started to take shape. Amid the build-up, a new report from Wrestling Observer Radio has shed some light on Lee’s WWE return.

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio spoke about the upcoming women’s WarGames match and spoke about the potential names that could be added to the match. The two teams in the match currently only feature four stars and will have to add one more to their team before the match at the PLE.

The babyfaces team confirmed for the match are Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss, while the heels are Nia Jax, The Kabuki Warriors, and Lash Legend.

Meltzer talked about the possible final two entrants in the women’s WarGames match. He mentioned that there had previously been plans for two top female stars to captain the babyface and heel teams, although he wasn’t certain if that plan was still in place.

“On the women’s side, AJ Lee and Becky Lynch were going to be the captains. So they could still be added, but…in the end, that would have to happen next week. But we know eight of the people, which would be Lash Legend, Nia Jax, and the Kabuki Warriors, and Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and…Rhea Ripley and…IYO SKY, yeah.

So there’s one spot left, and like I said, originally, it was going to be Lynch. If it is, Lynch is wrestling…Maxxine Dupri, so there will probably going to be an angle coming out of next week’s match at the Garden, if she’s still going to be in the Survivor Series match.”

If WWE decides to go with these plans, it would help in furthering the storyline between Becky Lynch and AJ Lee, which would lead to an eventual title clash at a future PLE.

When will AJ Lee return to WWE?

There is no confirmation on AJ Lee’s WWE return; however, some reports point to her involvement in the upcoming women’s WarGames match.

When and where will Survivor Series 2025 take place?
